New dates for Africa Petroleum Equipment Convention
The Africa Petroleum Equipment Convention (Afripet) will now take place on July 9th – 11th, 2018 and NOT March 19th – 21st as earlier scheduled.
The new development follows consultations with partners, confirmed exhibitors and delegates as well as other stakeholders in the event due to the prevailing political situation in Kenya – the host country.
The Kenyan Supreme Court in September annulled the August 8 re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ordered a fresh election which is scheduled for October 26th.
There is still uncertainty about the upcoming elections after opposition leader Raila Odinga announced on October 10th that he was quitting the rerun, citing his lack of confidence with the country’s Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission.
Given the nature of international travel and shipping arrangements, the organisers of Afripet have noted that a significant number of participants outside Kenya are hesitant to confirm their travel arrangements until the electioneering period is over and thus the decision to settle for the new dates – July 9th – 11th, 2018.
The event is Eastern Africa’s biggest and most valuable petroleum and LPG equipment’s conference bringing together equipment manufacturers and suppliers, government agencies, logisticians, financiers, consultants and consumers of petroleum equipment, among other stakeholders from upstream to downstream segments.
Alison and Davis Communications Group, the conveners of the summit are working towards a spectacular global event that will not only directly impact regional petroleum businesses but also ensure utmost value for exhibitors and conference participants. Over 70 regional and global exhibitors are expected and over 300 delegates from the Eastern African region.
